Dream Machine

Lucky is getting sent home today, in about an hour. I hope she’s okay.
While she’s gone, I’m going to fantasize about other computer configurations that I’d love to have, and really could use right about now. Let me share my dark fantasies with you.

Alienware. Enough said? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, hit up their website and order me one. An ALX system would be perfect… water cooled, just itching to be overclocked and tweaked, and oh baby, look at those curves! If I don’t build my next PC, then it will most definitely be an Alienware. In fact, the scale seems balanced in their favor, if I’m not mistaken, it is usually about the same general price either way now a days.

What Lucky really lacks is the proper processing speed, ram, and stability. I’m only running a AMD Athlon 2000 at a smidge higher than 1.3 Ghz and my ram is an itzy bitzy half a gig. While I’m at it, let me give you her other specs, in a pretty charted format.

LUCKY
AMD Athlon 2000 at about 1.3 Ghz
512 Ram
System Drive: 120 Gig
Backup Drive: 60 Gig
Storage Drive:160 Gig
16xDVD/52xCD – 32xRW Combo Drive
Sound Blaster Live sound card with front bay control port
ATI All-In-Wonder Radion 128 Video card with TV
Altec Lansing Speakers with sub-woofer
ViewSonic 19 inch flatscreen CRT Monitor
Custom Z-case
Gamecube controler with USB adapter
Windows XP Pro

She’s a little chunky, but I love her anyways.

What I wouldn’t do for a new system though.
I’m thinking of an Intel Processor at 3.4, or an equivalent AMD processor, at least two gigs of the fastest ram, an ATI x800 256 Meg video card, a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS high definition soundcard, Logitech 5.1 505 Watt Speakers, a Razor Viper mouse, a double harddrive system drive (two 74 gigs running together), some extra storage, dvd burner, and all the trimmings. With that, I need Maya 6 Complete, Photoshop CS, a Wacom Intuose, and Sonar. Once flat screens get a better response time, I will consider one.

Roughly, what I’m requiring, is seven thousand in hardware, and another thousand in software. I should start a donation section for this journal. Get your paypal accounts ready.
